iOS had an API and a platform. Is there any equivalent for turning an AI LLM into a sticky platform? Right now seems like it’s pretty easy to use harnesses and tooling across models, including open weight and locally running ones.

I have appreciated Amodei’s brutal honesty about their intentions. On podcasts his attitude is basically “oh yeah all of you are basically fucked our products will take everyone’s jobs in a couple years.” Altman is a lot more coy and comes

Claude Code became the default brand for an AI coding harness, much like ChatGPT was synonymous with AI chat bot. Even now when I hear Codex I have to stop and think “oh yeah that’s OpenAI’s competitor to Claude Code.”

Isn’t this the approach described in the article?

Just like the approach in the article. Everything is based on the metadata stored with chunks, just allowing the agent to navigate that metadata through ls, cd, find and grep.

Meanwhile, failure to clean up this particular mess was a key factor in losing a trillion dollars in market cap, according to the author.

I’m a developer and if a team spent five months only refactoring with zero features added I would fire you too. Refactoring and quality improvements must happen incrementally and in parallel with shipping new features and fixing bugs.

It can but more often it’s the opposite. Code that’s hard to write tests for tends to be code that’s too tightly coupled and lacking proper interface boundaries.

You don’t have to limit the transforms you offer users to just the core ones. But for your own sanity you can implement the none core ones in terms of the core ones.

I really appreciated this overview of when to use an IDE vs an ADE: https://ctx.rs/ade-vs-ide TLDR: use an ADE if you need multiple agents working concurrently on your code base. Otherwise IDE with an agent plugin is proba

You still have many people consuming and not producing, and much fewer people producing. Capitalism or socialism doesn’t change that.

According to the comment I replied to you have to make the product VCs think will make VCs the most money, even if that’s at odds with what your customers are telling you they want.

So that sounds like Claude Code is an inferior subset of Cursor. That Cursor can work like Claude Code, but Claude Code is lacking Cursor’s editing capabilities.

Why? Reading diffs is an inescapable skill, needed for evaluating any kind of PR. This just makes it more interactive. I just use Copilot with VS Code, but my flow is to just ask Claude to make a change across whatever files it needs to to

You know, it’s stuff like this making me think maybe the anti capitalists have a point. A company makes a popular product customers like, but to satisfy the VCs the company must make a product the customers don’t like but could make the VCs

That is a very complex, high level use case that takes time to configure and orchestrate. There are many simpler tasks that would work fine with a simpler, local model.

What’s interesting about this is that for previous technologies you could define a standard and demonstrate compliance with interfaces and behavior. But with LLMs, how do you know switching from one to another won’t change some behavior you

I’m starting to wonder where the most is for any of these models. Sure they are not cheap to train. But if open weight models continue to be trained and continue to become available on cheaper hardware, how do dedicated AI companies protec
