You’re not paid for 9-5 hours. You’re paid to get the job done. Sometimes that takes two hours. Sometimes it’s ten hours plus a weekend. It’s very easy to identify (and fire) workers that don’t honor this system.

Also measuring productivity is difficult in many cases. I can sometimes be more productive just thinking in the shower in the morning than I am copying text from one place to another.

If there are any short story writers out there, you could create an entire genre from ideas about hallucinating AIs. Marathon did it as "rampancy" back in the 90s but this is arguably even more interesting.

Employers may imagine the system is efficient. In fact, it is a wasted opportunity. Every time someone applies for a job, there is a chance to build that company’s reputation. Couldn’t agree with this more. I’ve heard some stories about c

These consonances cannot be replicated on a Western piano, for instance, because they would fall between the cracks of the scale traditionally used. Sounds like the author doesn't realize you can tune a piano. Actually, it doesn'

This is like nailing Al Capone for tax evasion. They missed the one actual example of Apple abusing its ownership in one industry (the OS) to then give itself a monopoly over another industry (app stores/app store fees).

Either you can cherry-pick non-white candidates among the US population or you can claim that there aren't enough skilled candidates in the US and hire H-1Bs from abroad - you cannot have both. Beggars cannot be choosers.

Well yes but you're going to have to have traded on your reputation to enter a position where they trust you so freely and it's going to take a frustratingly long time to rebuild that reputation afterwards.

On top of the house that took the space where trees previously were? There’s only so much space for trees. Seizing it for AirBNBs seems like a massive waste when we have hotels that use space much more efficiently.
