It might have been a live event, but captions would be better, indeed. The speaker is also too fast for her to catch up, and she has to drop a lot of things. On a side note, the speaker spends a while just reading what’s on the slides, that

Completely unreadable on mobile, with text and images mixed together. I recommend activating reader mode to fix it.

Seems nice! Even thought I’d have put the variable elements in a generic object instead of having extensions like that. Is this widely used?

What happened to Geary[1]? Looks very similar, and it used to be the elementaryOS email client. At least until it was forked into Pantheon Mail. https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Geary

I personally really like using speedcrunch[1] as a desktop calculator, and it’s cross platform. It’s not doing pretty print though. Otherwise it’s wolfram alpha[2], but that needs internet. I never type calculations in any search engines, b

In Chinese you have input methods that do exactly that. In particular Array 40 [1], which map pieces of characters to each key on the keyboard to input them. Other such methods, such as the more popular Cangjie [2] or Boshiamy [3], mix shap

That’s the point of a hardware wallet: nothing goes out of it. So no machine can read the private data from it. Just like a smartcard (like a yubikey).

Plus, if someone has a copy of his recovery words, they would be able to actually recover / clone his hardware wallet I think, because that’s what they are for. If your nephew didn’t access that paper for years, it doesn’t mean someone

I wish typography would also be a concern for digital watches, which I find more readable [1], albeit less fashionable. [1] https://www.watchuseek.com/attachments/garmini-fenix-black-j...

Docker for Desktop has no equivalent, and that’s true. Unless you’re on a Linux, where podman and podman compose _almost_ are an equivalent. But then, you can easily rollback a version on most distributions, and you don’t have the auto upda

A few days ago, a post about Intel hardware accelerated homomorphic encryption might show a better way: if an OS is running but the server cannot know what’s running, then you no longer need to trust that hardware. It’s trusted computing on

No, I'm speaking about a W3C standard, and not about a web browser extension. I want a website to say <script licence="MIT"></script> in the html, so any browser can use it, and let the user decide. LibreJS i

Perhaps a good start would be to have a standard way to signal the licence of the JavaScript received by the browser. At least users would be able to see it, or only allow the ones with a licence they agree with.

If your website is sending requests to your api, then that api is effectively public. If you have poor backend code, you’re assured to get weird traffic whose purpose is to break it at some point. It’s only up to you to make your backend re

Indeed. Yet, the amdgpu-pro driver supports the 5000 series. I managed to get it to work for my 5500 XT, but only in Ubuntu and for the 5.4 kernel and it wasn’t straightforward. It would be nice if a project like Mesa would exist for OpenCL

Would you put the Erlang/Elixir error handling in the "catch Throwable" camp? Because in this case, the error handling is done in a different process altogether (supervisor).

Are there some resources for exploring this topic further on the JVM? (In particular without having access to Erlang’s supervisor trees)
