The article mentions requiring help to use the GPU for compute: how easy is using the GPU for compute in Fortran? (Total newbie in Fortran)

Very nice to see Fortran in that space! That page doesn’t display very well on mobile though (header seems correct, but text is too wide and you need to zoom out. Safari mobile)

With iOS 16.3 you can now pair security keys such as yubikeys so that one cannot change the appleid password without it.

As water is the actual metered resource at 0.74 gallons per day, I’d prefer having it all poured into a bucket and use that to shower along with a glass or a sponge. It’s much easier to manage, and is pretty common practice in India (albeit

To me this is just a proxy for the number of bugs the car might have that could show up at some point. That’s more worrying than car theft.

Python is quite visual by using whitespace as meaningful part of the language. I would also try swift playgrounds if the kid is used to voice over.

With the recent discussions about memory safe languages, HAProxy is still surprisingly written in C [0]. [0]: https://github.com/haproxy/haproxy

Jetbrains also provides a similar, albeit slightly incompatible syntax for the same thing. In the end, I think hurl [0] is nicer, because it’s open source and it’s a cli tool (and VS code also has a syntax highlighting plugin for it), makin

Oh wow, I never knew this existed. It seems the selection can only grow and on both sides, which is the main problem. If they showed the cursor with a different color than the selected text, and if they shrink and grow the selection as you

On mobile phones, I’ve seen many websites where the font size was adjusted down to still have 70 characters per line, but it’s then difficult to read. Just turn on reader mode on on this very website, and you’ll see more like 45 characters

Java falls a bit in between Go and Rust on that example: Closures only allow variables that are effectively final, aka you can’t reassign them (the compiler will stop you). But you could pass an object and update its internal state.

It does vary by language, but Roman languages (French, Spanish, Italian, etc.) say the 4th of July. Same in German. In Polish, it’s the same, except for official matters since 2002, which now follows ISO8601. Even in the UK they commonly sa

WeChat give this by default (but not for all languages and you cannot change the language of a given voice message). But it’s so slow because it does it in real time, so a 1 minute voice message (the maximum length in WeChat) takes 1 minute

Yes, but in this case, it's f: Stream<A> -> Stream<B> and g: Stream<B> -> T, and compose them into h: Stream<A> -> T. Would be nice to be able to write, for example: T result = streamOfA().apply(f).appl

Kinda nice, but what I really wish is to be able to use transducers (idea from clojure) so that I can define and compose a function and then apply it to a stream / an optional / an observable, etc. Or, at the very least, being abl

Find a way with entr[0] and an http server to tell the browser to reload the currently viewed file if it changes. Today, entr allows you to restart a command when a file changes. A web server allows you to serve local files to your browser.

Not sure this would be great for new code, because the tests are supposed to dictate the function’s behaviour, and not the other way around. Yet, this would be amazing for legacy projects with no unit tests: you could record the code in pro
