i used to be a big fan of this sort of stuff, but the better solution for many of the problems described is to avoid array resizing. if std::vector is your bottleneck you have bigger problems i suspect. reminds me a bit of eastl as well...

the real challenge in portability is where the code must interact with the platform. making C command line tools that run across linux/osx/windows is quite straightforward, but anything more involved can be interesting, esp once y

i've never actually used fork... feeling glad now. i probably would have not realised this... reminds me of allocating memory for an error message to tell someone they are out of memory. :)

the way to flag this to an employer is simply. not to air the grievance but to inform them of it if it is public knowledge... e.g you left as a result, it was your former employer who will be contacted for a reference, or there was some pub

having been a bridge burner i can say that most employers are not competent enough to discover that you burned a bridge if they care... and if you volunteer the information its a great way to filter bad employers too.

good stuff. the power of function pointers for stuff like this is quite enormous. making a vm like this is great practice for a real compiler too... :) i'm curious though, why it isn't a direct copy of x86? other than the obvious

this stuff is always interesting. i don't understand how it ends up in the language in the form of 'for-in' though. the syntax is similar to the old school BASIC for loop, but the implementation is heavier in the vast majorit

i do a lot of lockless programming and avoid these problems almost entirely... although i will admit to having written a custom allocator or two for that scenario. i don't really see why being functional adds some extra requirement whe

I hope you fought that firing... ... incompetence like that comes from having F6 next to F7 and no checks or authorisation needed for a potentially dangerous action etc. Processes should be designed for people to make the common mistakes...
