I contemplated websolr recently but went with IndexTank simply due to the free storage they provided. It's nice to test out the service in dev mode to see if it's a good fit before committing to paying for it. Any chance Websolr offers an o

My bad. I'm new to the east coast (been here a little over a year) and PG said something like this was YC's first NYC event at YCNYC, so I reached an incorrect conclusion. Should have said something like this was their first time back in aw

I largely agree...it can be good for users but can also scale back the innovation in that market due to Google's reach. A brand like Google can get to so many more users than a startup can. I'm amazed quite often by the number of people who

Seems like the OP's post stems from just being over-critical (seems like he really wanted to find issues with the event), as well as expecting a bit too much from the event...almost too much to really live up to. While nothing presented was

Agreed. I went to a state college not at all respected for software engineering graduates and Google got ahold of me this summer asking if I had interest working for them (I declined). Google could (largely) care less what school you went t

Ha, I can take the criticism just fine man. I can also defend my writing, which is all I'm doing. And no, I definitely don't think my post was top-quality writing or analysis. It was my second blog post, so I'm far from those labels. Howeve

Jesus dude, do you work for Yelp? So damn angry over an article that mostly states the breakdown of Yelp's filtered reviews. Notice I said "I wouldn't be shocked" twice, not "I know for a fact that". I not once said that was the way it was,

Unsubstantiated complaints? I simply wrote what I saw, besides a few opinions here and there. And I know a lot of people do indeed dislike Yelp, but like some other sites with huge user bases, there's little other options to turn to, so you

The first word wasn't the difficult one, it was the last word (it's even tougher to decipher when zoomed in for normal view. Zoomed out, it appears more like 'Law'). I agree though, I know the service probably isn't tied to Yelp, I just fo

Anyone find it weird that Yelp makes you pass a reCaptcha when trying to look at filtered reviews? Clearly you can look at unfiltered reviews without this. It's almost like Yelp is yelling "Don't look at these reviews....please!"

I completely realize that. My point was to show how easy it was to make that critique with such an over-simplification, which was chetan's point as well.

And your argument starts off with some random assumption that "games have the best UI". You can't lead into the rest of your argument with some random tidbit you assume is true. Some games have great UIs, some have shitty ones. Largely, it'

Weird...it's still the same prices ($1063 and $936) for me. You may very well be right though, but I find it hard to believe that it changes in the second or two it takes me to do my search on Kayak to HipMunk http://i.imgur.com/a1VMw.png

Spez, it took me no time at all to find a flight cheaper on Kayak than on Hipmunk. From Chicago to Honolulu (roundtrip) on 8/26 - 8/28, Kayak's cheapest rate is $936 total while Hipmunk's is $1063 total. This was my second search comparison
