All first past the post systems like we have in the US will trend towards a two-party system. It sucks because voting third party just takes votes away from the major party candidate that most closely represents your views. To maximize your

Sure, straight white cis men can say "Oh that's all just political" but for someone who's gay, black, transgender, or female these issues effect nearly every aspect of your life. Every situation is viewed through that le

I can't attest to Eich's personal views, but giving money to maintain a status quo that is discriminatory against gays is anti-gay.

He mentions Brendan Eich who was ousted from Mozilla for his anti-gay views. I have little sympathy for someone who feels marginalized by views they choose to hold and express when I, as a gay man, could be marginalized simply for who I am,

That's... not how US debt works. Countries use the dollar as a reserve currency through buying up treasury bonds. It's simply a safe place to park their money. The US 'owes' China 1.2 trillion in the same way your bank &

There were a couple different movies that explored this theme around the time The Matrix came out. eXistenZ is another one that I enjoyed a lot, where video games become completely immersive, but there's still a few tropes like vapid N

Do people actually ask random people from other companies out for lunch? I've never heard of someone actually doing this, and I feel like if I was approached at a meetup this way I'd be very unlikely to accept, if not a little unc

It helps to keep in mind these groups are just constructs to help sociologists talk about large groups of people. While they're good for talking about differences in generations, no single person is going to fit into any generational g

You're probably thinking of the City of London, which is an area inside London that has it's own government and special privileges apart from the rest of what we think of as London. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

As a tourist the DC Metro at least seems much cleaner to me than the Chicago L that I commute on every day. The displays that show arrival times for the next train in DC are slick, but many L stations have those now too.
