Certainly a lot of scope for this kind of thing .. people who do lidar scans or photogrammetry of buildings tend to end up with very large meshes or very large point clouds.. which means they need souped up PCs and expensive software to wra

Was assuming they do a kind of ferris wheel with center and 3 or 4 spokes to start, maybe 200m diameter, and gradually fill out the rim with modular units maintaining balance, and center of mass at central dock ?

I t actually seems strange that the next 'step' isnt a spinning space science station, with simulated gravity. Is there an obvious reason this would not work ?

... and I guess another problem is that many/most humans dont want to know the truth. If we had a chatbot that said .. "btw, your religion XYZ is mostly made up myths" .. would that sell well ?

I guess Science is our best attempt.. followed by well funded serious journalism ? An adversarial network might actually make a good effort to matching assertions with verifiable facts .. or at least facts that have a high factualness page

I dont know why or how often articles on HN get flagged and then hidden/removed. I do know that I personally was typing a comment on a climate change related thread and after posting, noticed the post had been flagged and removed. Also

Nice to see this topic survive the flagging process on HN.. Would be great to have a discussion of some other promising non-carbon energy sources, such as drilled geothermal. Slightly off-topic - gen pop are often surprised when I mention

Can you define "that religion" .. I'm guessing you mean "people who believe that climate change / global warming is caused by humans burning carbon fuels and emitting CO2" .. ie. Im assuming, but want to check,

Slightly offtopic : there seems to be a lack of articles loosely related to climate change / green-tech on HN... given the amount of new tech and the size and urgency of warming, Id expect to see more discussion/argument. It seem

You draw a false dichotomy .. its now faster and cheaper to build out wind and solar than new nuclear fission SMRs. Most projections show slow linear growth in fission power .. meanwhile exponential growth in Wind and Solar plants, which is

I dont understand this - arent almost all ML NN models built in pytorch, and arent these compiled / jit'd into a lower level format - and can we not have various backends/drivers for that, such as CUDA / ROCM / vnni

Can you comment : how well does Vulcan api fit Neural Net primitives [ matmul / relu / backprop / tensor arrays ] ? Also.. do you think the in-browser WebGPU api, the successor to webGL, is a good api for NN ?
