One of my fondest memories of OS/2 (there weren't many, sorry) was finding a media file on one of the diskettes called IBMRALLY.MID which was a little piano rendition of "Ever Onward, IBM" from way back when in the Way B

I vote for more explicit. You're implying that the NSA is somehow utilizing the SETI@Home volunteer network for some nefarious purpose, and I don't see anything other than "they both like big computing power" that connec

I can attest to knowing at least a few examples of "people on HN who work for these companies but don't say so out of abject (and not misguided) fear that the rabid 'copy and paste' tech blogs that call themselves '

I have quite a bit of experience with at least a couple of the same Oracle products that are in the middle of this fiasco. Competent technical people or not, the products being implemented here have a reasonably well known track record (amo

I'm a firm believer in the lack of competency in all things governmental. The government is terrible at domestic spying. "Grab everything and look for interesting stuff" is a terrible way to do it - expensive, complex to whol

Late to reply to this but I downloaded your app and tried it out. It took a little getting used to (the tutorial in the app wasn't particularly clear the first time through it, but made sense the 2nd time through). Pretty neat!

OS X (since Lion) includes a license to run a virtual copy (well, 2 I think). I can't say that I've run the Server app component in a VM but I don't know of any reason why it wouldn't work, it's essentially just an

How many people wear watches anymore, to even make a wearable device marketable? Quick unscientific poll in my office is VERY low - on the order of 20% or so. I don't see why Apple would even consider a watch device given that small pe

You can move bootdisks (physically or just the image) between a power based Mac to an Intel based mac. The OS is upgradable from 10.1 to 10.8, you just have to swap hardware around Leopard to make it work. :) I routinely have coped my bootd
