Why can't it dedup? Presumably, containers share base images, which are read-only, and could thus be deduped in memory by the overlay filesystem implementation.

A container is an OS with a single application No. A container is just a tarball of user-space code run with some isolation. The kernel is still the kernel. Run multiple containers on a machine, and the OS manages all of their processes a

They've been working on this for a while. It's awesome. It would be a wonderful world to live in. And based on how we are dragging our feet with IPv6, migrating to NDN has a snowball's chance in hell of happening.

Note that I already posted about "estadounidense" above. That's perfectly fine for Spanish. But speaking in English, one says "American", not because of a "dripping superiority complex" as stated above, bu

Your life experiences matter not to the European superiority complex. It has been decided a priori that this behavior is wrong. Being 400 years old instead of just 40 would serve only to increase the magnitude of your wrongness tenfold.

Being lectured by Europeans that "calling the USA America" is somehow "funny" is in itself funny. It is a common refrain that perhaps demonstrates a lack of knowledge of idiomatic English. It certainly is a case of hapha

There are LOTS of things you can do with type classes, and they are super sexy. Let me try to enumerate them. One commenter already noted higher-kinded type classes, which is the basis of Haskell's libraries and do-notation for monads.

One of the fascinating ambitions of Rust is to bring linear type systems to the mainstream. The programming world is so un-acquainted with linear types, yet the possibilities are staggering. To me, functional programming languages were alwa

Because income taxes would go up as well. The poor would benefit but the rich might actually end up with a net loss. A basic income is nothing more than a redistribution of wealth, and in theory, might not cost anything more.
