I know what you mean, but I'm not sure how "important" photo sharing really is. I think we're kidding ourselves when we think we're going to "make the world a better place" in this industry. Other industries do much more to "make the world

"...we’ve received an offer we can’t refuse." Translation: $ Plus, Facebook is an awesome product with millions of users. Now they can help Facebook Photos kick its own ass. Sounds like a win-win for everyone. :)

This makes it sound easy! I'm not surprised AngelList played a key role... Venture Hacks is an awesome resource. Nivi and Naval do genuinely care about helping startups: http://venturehacks.com/intro I wouldn't pitch them until you have a

Anyone have an extra beta invite? EDIT: Sorry to ask here, but after reading that, I didn't get the impression that they were planning to send out additional invites anytime soon. (I just got one from Paul, thanks!)

Don't feel like you have to justify anything to some random guy on an internet forum. You are the most qualified/informed to run your own business however you want. :) From reading your comments on here, I better understand where you're com

I also thought DHH was bluffing potential buyers the entire time he was turning down your hypothetical offers. I laughed when you actually accused him of that. I still don't understand why they wouldn't take 10x their revenues or whatever.

From all accounts, it still sounds like making 'Rocky' was a risky move. I thought it was interesting that the studio expected 'New York, New York' to be a hit and for its profits to subsidize the making of 'Rocky'. In the end, 'New York, N

I don't doubt that, just keep in mind how sensitive "geeks" are when it comes to advertising, affiliate links, etc. :) You could just add a disclaimer like: "I use Amazon Affiliate links to link to books I like."

I agree, but I think it's worth noting that there's nothing inherently wrong with using referral links (if your review is honest and includes a disclaimer).

You didn't think it was interesting how he made his graph? This guy is pretty smart even if his style doesn't fit in with things we're used to seeing on HN. His quick break down of the recovery chart was more informative than any HN comment

It's not a conflict of interest per se. I think I just consciously try to ignore their blog because I feel like its purpose is to sucker you into buying their stuff.

I agree with this post 100%. Working from home mostly leads to working longer and less productive hours. You need to separate your work place from your living space. Does it not seem like a conflict of interest to anyone else that 37signals

It's the horizontal distance that is the problem. This redesign takes the information from the Newsfeed and spreads it across the entire page. If you want to read comments you have to travel horizontally and then go back to read the next

I don't like it. The new Facebook design centers around the search bar for a reason. I'm sure Facebook designers tracked user behavior and gathered that the search bar should be more in focus. This redesign botches this concept completely.

Robert Baer, the author of the article, is a good (and very qualified) writer on intelligence issues. His book about his experiences in the CIA, See No Evil, is one of my favorites: http://www.amazon.com/See-No-Evil-Soldier-Terrorism/dp/14

Perhaps I'm just reading you wrong, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. :) Neither party pushes for the right to give — their ideas are funded by borrowing and taxation . A right is a choice, and taxes are involuntary
