My roommate for the past two years is a philosophy major, and he's gotten me hooked on analytic philosophy as opposed to continental. The former actually does attempt to pursue truth through logic and reason. You would also be surprised how

> Not "no" regulation. Bad regulation. It exists! ... so why does that common-sense declaration feel so subversive to say? I wonder this same thing to myself every time I turn on the news or get into an ideological argument with a frien

I had a philosophy professor my sophomore year that was so against consumerism, marketing, advertising, corporations, etc. that he wouldn't even wear branded clothing. He made a point during class to explain how he never watched commercials

What does the author define mastery to be? In the information age, with new tools like WebMD, a product of capitalism and a profit-driven corporation, we have greater knowledge of health and medicine than certified doctors in the past ever

I see what you mean. I am measuring startup success in potential revenue. I think a startup ceases to be a startup when it becomes a profitable business. Also, I wouldn't consider SpaceX to be in the same boat as Twitter, and I assumed we w

Thanks for your nomination? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Startup_company Regardless of your apparent misunderstanding of what qualifies as a startup, Twitter, in fact, does have a dollar in revenue. Their Japanese version, which al

I think the data in that chart is from 2006, but I looked it up and I'm sorry, I must have heard wrong. Apparently, China will surpass the US in manufacturing in 2009 despite their unemployment rate in manufacturing being much higher lately

Why paper? What about gold? If the dollar collapses a printing press won't help much. Aren't the rates dropped in order to stimulate higher demand, not because of higher demand?

I'll give you that, but nonetheless depression is fairly rampant in America despite those things. I've met orphans in poverty stricken areas of Mexico that were happier than middle to upper class kids in day care centers here in America. Re

You can't measure credibility through success in the stock market, and that's not what I was implying. Do you take any advice? By your logic it doesn't look like it. I wouldn't want you running our country right now, sorry.

I (along with many of you I'm sure) have been listening to Peter Schiff's podcast since his predictions from 2004-2006 have materialized, and his outlook on the future of the US economy is very bleak. http://europac.net Duh, no one know
