Inspiring read... The countless meetings with absolute assholes who had no interest in learning about the Internet, the single most significant business innovation of their lifetimes. What do you think will be the next significant busines

What about for images? Rounded corners, gradients, logos, etc. I would imagine going back and messing with all those later would be a real pain, which is why I think choosing and settling on a color scheme from the start is important.

I mostly pull colors from images, but http://www.colourlovers.com and http://www.wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html are sometimes helpful. FireBug is real helpful for experimentation. The best advice I know regarding color

For most web startups, MR is not fixed, and it does increase with the number of users. This is mostly due to the price of advertising not being fixed. The value to advertisers increases for every additional user.

Exactly... startups aren't aiming to maximize profits (where marginal cost is equal to marginal revenue). When marginal cost is greater than marginal revenue a startup can either a) find more vc funding to raise marginal revenue, or b) cut

I agree 100%, but supposedly the sky would have fallen if these companies would have gone bankrupt? (I have yet to be convinced of this)

I'm a type 2... I feel like I don't have the influence, following, or energy required to promote things after launching so I tend to give up and start something new.

They do compensate people for that. I was just on an overbooked flight that was offering volunteers, who would drop out, $400+ in credit and a hotel room if they couldn't be placed on another flight that night. EDIT: I was referring to th

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I run a small social network, and advertising has 'generated users' at a much higher rate than any other method.

You're right. I just get a bad feeling when the random Twitter user starts giving interviews and becomes the hero, and when every tragedy inevitably turns into a discussion about Twitter and the real-time web.
