Yeah it's a cool as hell demo, I just think it would be really annoying if I were forced to use it to play games. You could even turn it into a minigame of trying to get the game working. Re-seat the cart. Wedge another on top. Try it with

Not like it's really that hard to solder SMD. I soldered 40-pin SMD all the time with nothing more than a fine-tip soldering iron, a syringe full of flux, and a magnifier or microscope.

That would be the same kind of skeuomorphism everyone decries in Apple's applications etc. Why should I virtually flip through a big stack of virtual cartridges, drag one into the slot, press it down with the mouse, and press the power butt

I think people who are into science and tech are getting more varied. We laugh about the idea of the football-obsessed "jock", but for some reason locking yourself in a room to play Final Fantasy all weekend was seen as admirably geeky. Mos

I guess my experience at such a small rural community was an outlier. Football was huge, our team was great, but we also had a good band program and quite a few of the band members were also football players--they'd march the half-time show

"Google's take on Android"? Don't they mean just "Android"? Because the shit that comes on a regular S4 is "Samsung's take on Android", no matter how Samsung would prefer to define things.

Why, oh why, would anyone be running x86 hardware in this Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Thirteen? It's been what, 10 fucking years that we've had AMD64 now, you can get free 64-bit systems from the curbside, just toss that goddamn PIII

Do you write kernels? No? Then shut the fuck up with your GC FUD. Lisp somehow managed to get past that and become the golden child of HN; will it take 50 years and pg's blessing before people stop whining about this in every Go thread?

Yeah, I updated to reflect that. I was basing that statement on the replies I'd see on golang-nuts when the weekly generics thread came up.

It gets brought up continually on the mailing list. The Go authors have repeatedly stated that they will not be implementing generics. They don't seem to miss them, I don't miss them, and indeed most people who write much Go don't seem to m

Immigration is not criminalized; illegal immigration is. Is current immigration law perfect? Certainly not, but when someone violates a bad law, he is still in violation of the law. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal_immig

It's a bit more expensive, but I also like taking Zatarain's boxed black beans and rice ($2), getting it started, then tossing in some chunks of raw chicken as soon as it starts boiling. It's quick, you basically mix the ingredients togethe
