Without passing judgement on the advice, it doesn't sound to me like the cops in Tehana were going to be scrupulous about respecting the rights of the people they were stopping.

Heh. But to be fair, different technologies encourage different usage patterns, and it's reasonable to investigate how, given a goal, technological solutions could be applied. I'm plenty leery of "solutionism" [1], but t

The most obvious sign that the money sloshing around in the Valley is bubble froth is the number of people saying "this time it's different." It's never different.

I think this is all true, and I try not to confuse the inevitable drift of the zeitgeist away from my interests with a value judgement of the site as a whole. Things change; raging against the dying of the light isn't really worth the

For me, the issue is that the legal and political (and to a growing degree, the business) discussions here are totally uninteresting; I'm not particularly interested in engaging in those sorts of conversations anywhere . But there are

Keep in mind that with these custom designed laptops, price is determined by volume, and by logistics, and Apple sells a lot more of these class of machines, and has by far the best logistics -- you're not going to be able to get much

I love mine, but once I get settled I'm going to switch to a desktop. That said, I don't know how well the Haswell MBAs work in Windows; I would assume that it'd be fine, but check with someone who actually knows?

Right now, because I'm spending a lot of time flying across the continent, my dev laptop is a maxed out 11" MBA. It's a little light on RAM (only 8GB) and the screen, while a decent PPI, is too small. But I plug it into a Thu
