I have almost exactly the same experience. Given that the science isn't settled, and that the mechanisms are imperfectly understood, and that talk therapy has worked or not for largely the same population since 1910, I'll take the

Why should someone choose to read on Amazon if the experience is so hostile? It's a lament for a lost opportunity most of all.

Well, your media-sharing device doesn't "just work" -- you had to tinker with it. I'm with you; I don't want this cloud business. I think that the ideal solution would be a small device with a purpose-built OS and h

Remember how the Hundred Flowers Campaign ended -- with an extinction event. Something not dissimilar is going to happen to these streaming services, because they simply do not differentiate from each other sufficiently.

The problem is that ESR and the "open source" people have a fundamentally different understanding of software freedom than do the FSF. I'm not judging one over the other, but I think it's a mistake to conflate the two. I

I live in Toronto, and the problem is certainly one of traffic density, exacerbated by the heavy use of streetcars on Queen/King &c and the brain-dead payment model. The TTC doesn't schedule buses and streetcars to stack up --
