http://kissmetrics.com/ is the most similar product. R is a programming language with huge number of data analytics libraries. It's not really an alternative any more than, say, Python is an alternative.

In authorship identification punctuation can be very important, as can non-grammatical features like the distribution of the number of syllables per word.

I once had a totally benign website that triggered an anti-virus alert in Clam AV. There was an specific sequence of characters in the HTML that caused it. One of the weirder bugs I've encountered.

Facebook ads are less compelling from the supply side, but in some cases more impressive from the demand side. Companies like Groupon make extensive use of Facebook's demographic targeting, for example, and local advertising is only going

Blue collar workers have a hard time surviving and there is a massive problem of low/low-middle class flight in SF. This predominantly affects minorities, who have to live in less safe neighborhoods like the Tenderloin or Bayview/Hunter's

It's not just about the cut. You can sell inventory for more than the ad networks sell it (their business is about volume and teeth whitening ads).

I was working from this: http://www.businessinsider.com/chart-of-the-day-in-case-you-... Those numbers are net sales, not gross revenue, so cost of revenue (revenue splits, traffic acquisition costs, etc.) are factored out.

That's daft. Funding isn't a liability (in the financial sense), and those numbers don't say anything about growth prospects.

Google does something like $18Bn per year in revenue and of that about $750MM-$1Bn is from ads on non-Google-run sites. So, I think they care about Mahalo as a source of revenue about >< that much. They're probably more worried abo

ShopSense is an ad network, but surely you see the difference between those ads and ads for acai berries, teeth whiteners, and the University of Phoenix online? The author doesn't hate ad networks per se -- he hates ad networks as they exis

Yes. I know personally I have never clicked on an ad in gmail. They're always for totally bizarre things. For example, the last Fandango email I got served up a bunch of ads for roofing companies. See Alice in Wonderland and get my crawl

If you use the plugin, I think it could work. The loop is not great right now, but the two hooks are email importing and Facebook feed posting. Obviously Causes works, although the donation step occurs at a different place in the funnel, b

I meant this, specifically: "it tracks not only how much you brought in, but how much everyone you've invited brought in, and how much everyone they've invited brought in etc." Obviously if their viral loop works that will make the product.

Yes, but the name of the product is "Browsarity," which is a portmanteau of browser and charity. And the positioning on the landing page is about giving, donating, etc. So I guess my question is, is this actually a charity? Well, ok, I sho
