Most coding tools have rules or plan files that help provide context across chats. I spend most of my time editing these files. It's as if I am training a junior dev.

But the conversation is about people who use them...

It's hard for me to understand why someone would comment about AI copilots eroding skills when they've only used code completion tooling for fewer than two hours.

This is people talking about the issue, not "screaming."

Is this "screaming?"

I follow the pro/anti natalist space and I'm not sure if anybody is "screaming" at people to have more kids.

Idk about this. Every dev I know that has lost or left a job in the past year found another one without too much struggle. Cycles take longer and are more annoying but companies are definitely hiring.

I thought so too until I tried to learn AI tools. I'm a mediocre dev but I'm at least 10x more productive with AI tooling.

Framing being productive with AI code gen as being similar to a physically impossible process is as bad faith as you can get.

Yes, I do. You didn't challenge, you insulted. You can ask how they ensure quality, what the review process is like, what QA is like, how do humans keep up with that pace of change, etc.

The discussions about AI code always devolve into "derision" comments like this. "You are a dumb vibe coder producing bad slop" You don't know anything about the code, the project, the person, but feel justified to

At this point why spend 5 hours refactoring when I can spend 5 minutes shot gunning the changes in? At the same time refactoring probably takes 10 minutes with AI.

When the loom came out the people who loved weaving by hand stopped being as valuable. That's where we are right now. The best bespoke hand-crafted coders are far less valuable than they used to be. It sucks for the weavers who loved t

This is an immature bad faith interpretation. The thing is there are loads of people making these claims and they aren't that extraordinary. The claims for coding productivity increases were extraordinary 12 months ago, now they are fu
