There is no playbook. Every market and company is different. It took me over five years and two failed businesses to not reach profitability. Survivorship bias is a big thing in this space.

Quite often what is "obvious" isn't true. Take some time and do some reading on this topic and you'll find that vaccines can provide equal or better immunity than a natural infection.

>given that the immunity you get from having the disease is always better than what you'd get from a vaccine This is false. Stop spreading misinformation.

This doesn't make any sense to me. I know fast coders who need to consult Stackoverflow and good coders who refactor all the time. You set up several false dichotomies.

What's amazing is that .NET has only gotten better since then. I remember hearing about Atwood talk about tools he built himself that are more or less baked into the ASP.NET now.

Your reply is odd. You wanted "proof" work-for-promotions happen and I just wanted to point out this happens in several trades. Anyway, I don't disagree with your comment at all. Certain trades are undervalued because it tak

You don't know of any person in a service trade that did promo work to build their portfolio? I know auto mechanics, actors, hair people, nail people, home inspectors, photographers, and cooks who have done free work for free promotion

Is feature parity the same as maturity to you?

How would compare maturity with more popular frameworks that have been around for more than twice as long? Genuinely curious as to what you meant by that question.

Same, I realized that spending 2 years to get to 1k in profit a month from a SaaS or something was a lot harder than just getting a job that paid me 12k more.

I was in the communal lunch room with other people and the CEO was mad about the delay in a software project. He put both middle fingers in the air and said something to the effect of "the developers really fucked me on this one."

This sounds like to remove human greed we must embrace human greed and expend a lot of energy. In what future world are we not trying to create more Bitcoin?

There is a difference between monetary value and utilitarian value. Bitcoin has negligent utilitarian value. It does nothing besides reward people who can consume energy the fastest.

Perhaps you are extending the discussion far past the point I was trying to make in a single sentence. Discussing things with people on hacker news is frustrating because people like you extend the argument to way way way past the point at
