We're changing to LGPLv3. See https://github.com/jewel/clearskies/blob/master/license-chan... . The C++ implementation is also LGPL.

At one point I had it as a required part of the protocol, but later decided that it added a lot of complexity so moved it to an extension. I'm currently working on a minor reorganization of the protocol in the protocol_cleanup branch.

There's a common tracker, currently running at clearskies.tuxng.com. The plan is to add DHT support similar to the DHT used by BitTorrent. We'll seed the DHT using the tracker. If you want you can also run your own tracker. You

That is a good idea. I have considered having a network service like that, but I'm a little too paranoid. I want something that will survive heretofore unseen events, like a 0-day remote root exploit in the Linux kernel networking st

This is one reason why I tell people to have both offsite backups (in case of fire, theft, etc.) and offline backups. There are a lot of us that are just one SSH worm away from having all of our files destroyed. I've been thinking a

I think that's because less people writing computer programs are calling themselves "programmers". There were one million "Software Developers" in 2012, according to the same source: http://www.bls.gov&#

So far I've only accepted jobs that will let me be paid by the hour, instead of salary, with 1.5 times pay for overtime. I feel like it much more reasonably aligns expectations, and in 10+ years of working that way, I've only don

Instead of a headphone switch, you can enable and disable "Auto-mute" automatically, at least in linux: amixer sset 'Auto-Mute Mode' Disabled This lets you switch between headphone and speaker mode with a keyboa

If you paste that URL into a feed reader it should find the feed link from the page source. It's http://blog.vjeux.com/feed , in case your feed reader doesn't do that for some reason.

It actually works pretty well, at least in Thunderbird. I don't use gmail for my personal email, but my employer uses google apps. IMAP access lets me have both accounts in one interface.

You're certainly right. Did you see that the page specifically targets people who make javascript libraries? The page is arguing that when possible, libraries shouldn't depend on jquery, and shows how to do that for a few common

I believe GP was saying two separate things. First of all, it's unusual to commit binaries to source control, because they can't be merged, etc. Second of all, he personally isn't comfortable with binaries and would rather

A game like an FPS doesn't need much speed (they can work with modem-level bitrate). They instead depend on having low latency, or ping time. Since the moon is so far away, it takes a signal 1.3 seconds to travel to or from it.
