I need a tutor for level03! I am SO close but obviously so far. Any one up for checking my current notes and homework and hinting at me as to my next move?

Too funny. I sure hope this is satire. Personally, I find writing chef recipes, building cookbooks, defining roles and managing the attributes of systems to be more of a beautiful art and craft than managing systems individually. To me,

I think people must be brute-forcing level03 instead of figuring out how to calculate the index they need?! That could work but you won't know how address math/pointer math actually works. This isn't really fair to yourself, you'll be ski

I'm estimating they booted a few new EC2 systems up. Right before the system got a new key it was unavailable.

Well, I got my math right to tweak the index I think and now the system is unavailable. Blasted!

This article is a great example of spinning a disadvantage in to a feature. Short-codes are expensive and most small organizations wouldn't or couldn't pay for them anyways. Instead of sharing a short-code among their subscribers SendHub h

Wow! I'm intrigued and curious by what the "time bomb word docs" might contain. I don't really want the feds knocking on my door! Guess I will have to take a pass pulling this source code apart.

I think @dhh wasted a great opportunity to be a leader and a mentor. I think he should have asked allengrant to rise to the occasion. Instead he was incredibly rude and shared his contempt publicly! It all seems so incongruent to me. On on

Thank you. I don't mind rage comics and kittens but if I wanted to read about those, well, YC wouldn't be my normal watercooler. I spend time here because I want to talk about hacking apps, hacking life and the different start-up business

I cannot access the article so I am only able to respond to the title at this time. I'm not a big fan of such sweeping generalizations. I am biased- I write in C all day long. C's basics are fairly easy to learn, it's an incredibly fast

Thank you for the excellent book suggestion. I've only been writing in C for a few years now. I've been grappling for a better way to manage and abstract some of our utilities in our poorly written legacy application. Every linked list is

DanBlake I share your same sentiment. We went the real servers route and when someone does if they use programmatic methodologies for system administration (Puppet, Chef) you can have systems online just as quickly or systems reprovisioned

I clicked on work and the image was AWFULLY slow to load. I'd drop the filesize or outsource the hosting to an S3 bucket or something.

Hiding the error does not mean that the error did not occur or that it is not a problem.. It was about to occur and there is still a fundamental problem in your logic leading up to the would-have-been segfault that was swept under the rug.

I am having this same problem with our development team (mostly c) at my job. They find subversion too arduous but then don't understand why there are so many problems and bugs in their releases. Thank you for mimicking my sentiments precis
