If the United States didn't exist when the Soviets were around, we'd have been living in one giant North Korea. That's why more needs to be done with the CCP, which is rapidly advancing their military and is already the preem

China's economy is 20 times their size, and their population about 40 times larger. And there's no comparison in industrial capability.

The US should have the courage to do more. Order a full investigation into whether personal data was ever made available to the CCP. If data was ever shared, then there should be no payout to ByteDance.

By commercial licenses, I meant those written by lawyers specifically for the product. But usually you could just go with something like SSPL - which has sufficient protections for the developer (but not the user).

Does Gemini have a prepaid mode? I like that both OpenAI and Anthropic default to the prepaid mode; I can safely experiment without worrying about selecting a large file by mistake (or worse, a runaway automated process).

A big limitation with GPT4 Turbo (and Claude 3) for coding is the output token size. The only way to overcome the 4k limitation is by generating a file (if it fits), and feeding it back to generate the second and so on. For this reason, GPT

Hang in there. I feel the tables are about to turn as AI eliminates junior positions. You'd need people who understand business, potential issues, and architecture at a higher level. Which usually means people who are more senior. My

More Open Source projects should adopt SSPL, or experiment with LLama 2 style limitations on the size of companies which may use the work for free (for example, Open Source but not if you're a multi-billion cloud megacorp). When indivi

In JavaScript (and in TypeScript), not using the semi-colon is often a footgun. Here's a surprise: const a = 1 const b = 2 (a+b).toString() Calling the convention "standard" was irresponsible, and it led many peopl

Trying to understand - how is Zulip overwhelming? I am a user of both, and I find Zulip to be way more pleasant, easier and less noisier than Slack. The other upside of Zulip is that it is very easy to self-host.

I'll be surprised if in the near future an NYT-class publication doesn't carry an article blaming an LLM for a major security breach. The closer you are to the topic at hand, the more you realise how poorly researched it is. Almos

You seem to be downvoted because of the lack of details. Upvoted and thanks for commenting. 1. Do you have a working prototype? 2. Are the pictures real (or close), or entirely CGI? That would win over a lot of people here on HN.
