The UK is not being punished by the EU. The UK punched itself a bloody nose and a few teeth out before jumping into the horse trading, shark pool that is international diplomacy. There are lots of small favours that the UK will now need to

Current Azul Zing. Is trending into a hybrid, storing previously compiled machine code to use upon restart if byte code matches. I also think that the JVM is the only JIT that has had close to same number of resources pushed at it as some o

Don't worry about the GPL part, e.g. see MySQL as a GPL database in wide use. As long as you access blazegraph via the sparql or tinkerpop interfaces you will clearly be fine.

Its not even that the EU really wants to make the UK pay. It's just that the UK had so many advantages that it negotiated before. Now they basically reset themselves back to 1972, but the problem is the EU is much bigger at 27 members

While the constructs are higher level, the compiler still needs to deal with all of this complexity. Normal developers can ignore this. But there will be a memory model and a modern language should specify this. If swift does not have an eq

If you are in graph benchmarking you should really have a good look at http://ldbcouncil.org/ . Especially the fact that this is a read only benchmark. Plus your dataset is tiny. So all you showed is that if there is no cont

The European Commission is elected by the heads of government of the EU nations. That is a whole lot more democratic than the house of Lords. It is actually as democratic as the manner in which the ministers in the UK are selected. And in a

Well it is an nice editorial. I would be the first to admit that the A380 has not sold as well as it could have but this is over the top. The reason the A380neo is not a priority right now is the change in oil price. That changed the re-eng

There is only one thing "wrong" with C++ and that is undefined behavior. An accident of history, but one that will make you cry at times. For the rest the tooling around it is quite depressing as well. But none of this prevents yo

The Urika I got to try at CSCS was probably the easiest graph database I ever experimented with. Very single user focussed but really nicely done (single user focus might have been CSCS as a supercomputer centre decision).

Azul C4 will collect with stop the world due to GC no longer than 40ms. You might want to think beyond Oracle/OpenJDK (altough openjdk with Shendoah GC will be interesting in the future) if you are dealing with this kind of heap sizes.

The not interested does not happen with us because we hire so rarely. But I also think that a team not interested in your presentation is rarely a team you want to work with.

Our process is a bit different from what is common in the rest of industry. We do 3 things of which the first 2 are standard. * CV screen * Phone screen, asking what, why, what is missing on CV * Interview -> starting by a presentation d

I think, as all directives such as never rewrite, jump of a bridge etc... means don't do it before thinking it through and knowing what you get ourself into. In this case you have a well specced problem (very rare!) and they tried both

I don't think they really threaten Oracle, even for analytics where this makes sense. The performance increase over in memory on sparc m7 per price point won't be that insane. So just like in memory db the main question is how lon
