Interesting article! In hindsight everything is distorted and seems so natural, however, it doesn't teach you much about the _current_ reality -- how can you tell if your company is suffering from a product or marketing problem _right now_?

I second SwellJoe's advices, particular #1 -- "Don't go into debt". During 1999 the pre/post bubble period, I committed 120% into an online game startup with a few of my friends. Even with a bit of VC funding, the business finally imploded

"Send it to ALL" -- when I was working for banks with (tens of) thousands of employees, I often received such carefully crafted exit emails from people/departments I had never heard of. And I considered all of them SPAM.
