I haven't read all comments, so apologies if something has been covered. I think you could make some serious cash if you execute this correctly as well as heed customer feedback. For the website, several things... The site looks great, but

I like #47 more, not doubt about it. It fits the brief better, and leaves a stronger brand impression IMO. However, I agree with matt1 that having the character looking directly at you may be an issue. I think it's okay... I'm trying to r

My problem is that I was thinking only of big ideas, which was a mistake because in the meantime my finances suffered while waiting for a larger payoff. I have a list now up to 50 ideas accumulated over years, and many with great potential

I agree with pg. If your site is targeted to mainstream, as opposed to geeks or early adopters, you would have to fight really hard to go against default mind-share people will have for dot com. Remember, many people still don't know "what

You might be surprised at the responses you'd get. As you probably know web startups are cheaper than ever to build; that's why the YC model works so well. It's not in a startup's interest to raise huge amounts and give up lots of equity ea

Something I'd actually seriously consider in your place is YC companies. They get around 20K which is just enough to create a prototype/beta to solicit a larger round. This is not very much and I imagine many don't raise money right away af

I think the answer heavily depends on how confident you are in yourself. Do you feel your success was a fluke, or could you mimic it with something else? Having 24K in capital is great, but if you know anything about the tech startup space

I don't think it's astroturfing. I've always heard Michael Arrington explain that his ideology (and I imagine what he tells his writers) is to write about what interests him, not worrying about the audience, saying readers will either come

Well, since we control the root servers maybe we can fight fire with fire and have some fun with China. We could randomly allow innocent (to the Chinese govt) sites to be redirected to free speech and human rights activist sites.
