I can't believe people are really on here thinking that zero data was considered and it's just a bunch of execs going off random "feels".

You've never seen great products built by teams that work together in an office? You clearly need to get out of your house more. Maybe in-office will do you some good.

That's an easy way to have zero managers and more problems than you started with. The vast majority of ICs are like children. It's not fun dealing with them. The only way one voluntarily takes on that role is for equal or greater

They just brought this extremely innovative thing to market in very little time. The problem may have been that they haven't really had any competition in their core business to push them in a long time.

No they don't. Twitter hasn't done that (restrict your feed to only people you follow) in a long time.

I've been told by folks who work on infra there that they need to file requests to even talk to the previous owners of code if that person has moved to a diff role. So I don't think it's just for unannounced products.

Most of the core infrastructure at big techs like Google and Meta (and I can only assume Microsoft) are written in C++. Many of the folks working on said infra escaped from finance to get there.

Agree. I worry that many companies will maintain notional "support" for remote roles, but it will revert to a two tiered system where in-office workers have better career growth.

I'd broaden that to say most people working at these companies are poor, including the engineers. Reality is most people are not the awesome standouts they believe themselves to be and truly strong leaders/engineers/sales peo

But at what scope? The how will always matter. Your AI could design a system that bankrupts you on the first day. To prevent that you need to specify constraints and it's turtles all the way down. It would free you from spending time o

Writing a spec thorough enough for AI to generate code that verifiably meets in and solves your problem means you're still programming, but specs instead of systems.

It's more productive as Ruby and Python and much faster than either? Is that not reason enough for some to choose it? I'd argue that of the PHP, Python, and Ruby it is Ruby that should die. It's the same use case as Python, b

Tech doesn't seem that great? Google demo'd Duplex in 2018 and it was so good at voice synthesis that people were arguing about whether or not it's ethical to not disclaim you're talking to AI.
