Same could be said against Windows. Ever used Windows 8? "Everyone" hated it. Windows 10 has gone for the hybrid UI; both "modern" and traditional. At the same time. I'm not sure why you say it's hard for UI&#x

Yet you're fine with others forcing you. I don't use anything Adobe, yet I don't remember having a problem opening such files (regardless of OS). If so, I'm not afraid to respond with "Hey, can you export/save

IDE vs CLI has nothing to do with it. Windows isn't the only OS that has a graphical IDE - likewise Bash is available on Windows. (all of my tools are available on both systems)

I develop for Windows, but I use Linux. I find Windows to be a hindrance (I've used it from v3.1 to 7, so it's nothing to do with unfamiliarity). Microsoft may be trying to become developer friendly - but their OS certainly is not

I thought that was also the case in the UK, but it turns out you need to have been employed for 2 years for that rule to apply.

Same story here. Although, I was halfway through my journey home when I felt a huge weight had been taken off my back. Sometimes getting fired is good.

The fact that you feel the need to ask "is this a red flag?" on HN is the red flag. I was on a 1 month notice, and they let me go after 6 months for "performance" reasons. No mention of any performance issues in my 2 r

I agree. GD/LO spreadsheets are an appalling database engine. I don't want to tell you how to do your own job, but if it's normal to handle millions of lines in a spreadsheet, you might be doing it wrong. (2 mins in excel; 2

By the way, the chips of smartcards are enough to perform encryption, as well as storing keys. (fast enough for streams in 'real-time' - I don't know)

Ping isn't the easiest - it uses physics and is 'real-time'. Simon is the easiest, in my opinion. Simple logic and graphics.

I'm now old. VB actually got me into Windows development - coming from C & DOS, at the time the message pump was difficult for me to grasp. For LOB apps, VB1-6 was the most productive language by far.

There's no need to be "grilled" on something you did 10+ years ago (unless it's a requirement of the job, of course). Perhaps a "have you used Pascal since leaving ...?" would suffice.
