I’m really excited, too, but there are serious issues in Meta’s execution: They really need to get their UX, customer service, and hardware/firmware release processes solid. It’s foolhardy and expensive to test hardware in prod, espec

I found my caveats file! It was actually an errant newline at the end of each file. Gnucash should've known enough to strip it. And the other thing was a file that used `--` for deposits, so I have a note to 's/--//

I've used GnuCash for 13 years now, for personal finances and two companies, and love it to death. There's something really satisfying when you see everything balance! The only issues I've had over all these years have been b

Me, too. But I do think, as others have mentioned, Intuit is definitely sharing data — my mother and I used the same payroll processor and my company payroll isn’t there (I don’t use QuickBooks).

Wowwww. I was really reticent to give them the info to log in, and still not sure it was a good idea (although they have it anyway...), but it's interesting -- they have my current TC exact, RSUs and everything...and that little instru

Met a couple a few years ago who’d recently lost their teenaged son tamping down a corn bin; still have nightmares about the details. This will be wonderful if it’s accessible to all farmers.

My grandfather likes National Geographic, and was always into science programming. National Geographic and MSNBC are his channels. The last time he was in rehab, their cable subscription didn't have MSNBC, but it did have National Geog

Really appreciate this post. But I’ve gotta admit that I CTRL-Fed it for ligatures in bidirectional text and Czech accents and found no result...and couldn’t figure out whether I was happy or sad about that.

Looking forward to reading this! Had the pleasure of seeing Brian Kernighan and Ken Thompson speak at VCF East earlier this year, totally worth a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY6q5dv_B-o I highly recommend hitting

I have this issue with OSSEC messages (automated messages from an Open Source IDS). Same thing, too, have been marking them as “not spam” for years. I think it’s because I don’t always review them...:/ But just because you don’t always

Gonna second whoever said: Use DKIM. I actually check Spam daily now, after finding support emails whose logs got snagged in the dragnet & personal stuff — even email from my Dad got shunted to Spam. I still tip the hat, though, to Go

I’ve got this crazy feeling that you’re not asking these questions in good faith, especially if you don’t understand how anonymity is important for people using secure messengers or need a Github issue to inform you about a feature long-dis

It's not a natural fit for a secure mobile messenger if you want to stay anonymous. For some of us, security == anonymity. Tying your identity to a phone number that can only be obtained by handing a telecom your government identity do

One thing very much worth plugging about Google Colab is that you get free access to an NVIDIA Tesla K80 GPU. You're limited to 12 hour stints and you have to keep the window open and network active, but it's enough that I've

Eldercare for more serious ailments is pretty pricey if you stay aboveboard, but healthcare benefits in the US for 65+ are pretty great. Combine Medicare with their private plans, and as a person under 65 watching the medical care my elders
