I like listening to hard rock, EBM and industrial when working. Something with a lot of energy. The lyrics don't bother me at all, I am good at not listening to them, especially if I know the song and what the lyrics are.

1) That is about transparent huge pages which is a different thing and 2) it is always clear cut for PostgreSQL. If you can you should always use huge pages (the non-transparent kind).

Ukraine has proven otherwise. A lot of European countries pulled them out of storage and gave to Ukraine. Of course there will be a limit to this if you destroy enough of them.

If nobody tests and reports these things when the version is released the regression would not be fixed when people start using it in production.

Turns out the amd machine had huge tables enabled and after disabling those the regression was there on and too. So arm vs amd was a red herring. Of course not a nice regression but you should not run PostgreSQL on large servers without hug

PostgreSQL is old and had to support kernels which did not support spinlocks. But, yes, maybe PostgreSQL should stop doing so now that kernels do.

I mostly work on PostgreSQL which has always selfhosted but PostgreSQL is a big project, for smaller projects it is much less practical. Even for something decently large like Meson I think the barrier would have been too big. But, yes, pro

For open source I would say Codeberg looks like the most promising. There is also SourceHut but seems like Codeberg has the mind share.

It was much better than the closed source SourceForge which existed before it. A lot of small projects dont have the energy to self host. Plus for small projects the barrier of entry is an issue. I recently found a typo in an error message

Yeah, the attack vector seems to be stolen credentials. I would be much more interested in an attack which actually uses Invisible characters as the main vector.

I don't think that would help much. There are also characters which are similar but not the same and I don't think humans can spot the differences unless they are actively looking for them which most of the time people are not. If

Yeah, I would have loved to see an example where it was not obvious that there is an exploit. Where it would be possible for a reviewer to actually miss it.

Scandinavians and historians? This study did not reveal anything which was not taught in school in Sweden in the 90s when I grew up. I guess useful to verify what we knew with even more sources, but there was no new discovery here.

Columbus was not a genius. He was an idiot who believed the earth was smaller than the scientists of his day, and the scientists were right. Columbus became successful through pure luck, genocide and cruelty. Most idiots like Columbus died

Matching SQL in features is very hard, especially if you also want to make it more sane and more powerful at the same time while also wanting to be able the generate valid SQL from your syntax. So I am not surprised that it stalled out.

Humans can drive with eyes only, but we are better drivers when we can also use other senses like hearing. If humans has lidar we would use it when driving.

Tesla does not handle rain well either. This is not a LIDAR problem, it is a problem with self driving cars in general.

Except it is not. The Zig compiler does not need this. I am not sure if this API will work out but it is not for the Zig compiler.

No. With this kind of bullshit they plan to try to sell to C-levels and board members. Edit: Actually it may just be aimed at investors. Who cares about having a product?
