For the record, I'd love someone to cook up a blog and keep tabs on these people and their endeavors. Hell, I've got half a mind to do it myself, if only I knew more about the startup world. Of course, that said, I'm curious if one of the t

To read the article, a bunch of these kids seemed to have already decided to leave school. Though I'm sure you're absolutely right about some.

I get you, but politely disagree. I would prefer an amazing game fourteen years late to any number of mediocre games in the interim. There's been no shortage of lackluster games that could have filled the void for me as a gamer.

The question this brings to mind for me: When will we be able to rotate laptop screens? Obviously it's not a tech problem, and instead a matter of convincing someone this is a wanted feature. How do you go about such a campaign?

I'd honestly be surprised if there is an end goal here. More likely some silly bastard who has trouble keeping his PC safe, but won't uninstall that 1000 smilies toolbar, thinks this is "sending a message to pirates everywhere!" because he'

I mostly keep up with my stream as a part of my wake up ritual, but Twitter does have problems. One important question, however, is how much room Twitter gives you to change things. There was a mention a few days ago saying Twitter has rule

I've always laughed at that joke (and the campaign that spawned it) for exactly that reason. If people could, OF COURSE they'd download a car. That's just silly. I use a "magic ray gun" analogy when explaining P2P to people, "A magic gun th

I can only speak personally of course, but... Is music bad for concentration? Yes. But is music bad for WORKING? God no. It really depends on what I'm doing. Playing music makes work (and made school work) far more pleasant (and thus easier

I'm going to be honest; I almost laughed at the premise... But then I realized how many times I've said "God I wish someone would create an intuitive way to read conversations on Twitter." All the broken references, replies not done as repl

Not exactly related to this story, but... A friend in China is taking the GMAT, and was confused about a question, and asked me to word it differently for her. When she typed out the "critical reasoning" example (Given A and B, deduce which

For all his talk of "flying over traffic," that he realizes how super-rural areas (places without roads) could be a major benefit from this is great. And smart. (Assuming it costs less than a small plane, which I imagine it does, and can ca

Traditional patents are like creating new tools for a carpenter to use. Software patents are when someone picks up a screwdriver and says "I'm going to use this to pry the lid off the paint can. No one else can do that now, ever again."

I really don't like most news sites. The average site like Guardian or Fox News is just "meh." CNN's "above the fold" is okay, having image thumbnailed stories and then a text-heavy list on the left side. That said, I don't actually "like"

Curious if anyone has any numbers for software piracy historically speaking? We'll forever be hearing how piracy is destroying companies, so one has to wonder how current piracy rates stack up against previous years.
