I wonder about the potential blowback of hounding problem distributors publicly, though. It's possible it could work a few times; get consumers to go after them. But I think some would have negative reactions. Kids gloves may well be the be

Between Atari passing on this, and passing on bringing the Nintendo Entertainment System to the US (Nintendo approached them about bringing it to the US under the Atari name) this also says a lot about Atari.

I always wonder about this argument. Wouldn't it be more about the VALUE of the minimum wage, and not the number associated with it? I mean, the minimum wage was far higher in value in 1968. And don't some nations reevaluate the value of th

Oh absolutely! And I'm sure many are the lazy freeloaders that are easily imagined. But I think honest mistakes count for much of it. Of course, that could well be wishful thinking!

I'm reminded of people who argue against high-paid athletes going on strike for being greedy, despite the institution owners pulling in far larger portions of the wealth. "They're paid millions to throw a ball around! They should be happy w

Well, when you're raised and told you HAVE to go to college, a lot of will she loans for it. Or they'll assume they'll have their job for a long time, and buy a car/house, or have a kid. A bunch of dumb decisions? Not necessarily. Sometimes

A wonderful article, though I think what's often unsaid in regards to the occupation is their commonality; they all feel that their voices, despite what it is that they're calling out for individually, are being ignored, despite being large

Don't get me wrong, it's neat and all, but I'd rather see something closer to iControlpad's physical controls. Only maybe "wings" with physical controls that you clip on, rather than their current full-sized device. Also, throw in a pocket-

I didn't downvote you (I can't), and this is just a guess, but: Your post probably came off as more dismissive than you intended it. I mean, Uzi Nissan (or someone on his behalf) legitimately bought the domain Nissan.com. Five years later,

Just wanted to chime in and say that, as a job-seeker myself, I'm absolutely with you. Not getting a job sucks, but I can deal with that. Complete silence in the face of effort, however, is just offensive. Doubly so in the form of broken en

Visit the site; it's owned by a small family-owned computer retailer, and always has been. It's kinda awesome, really, that they've been able to keep it.

So, if this is the "carrot" to get corporations to repatriate this wealth, (ignoring business as usual), what would the "stick" look like? Maybe a small, token increase? Or some method of increasing the tax rate dependant upon the length of

I wonder if this was a tip of the hat to Jobs, or a slight to Edison? I came into this thread expecting a few Edison jabs from technically minded folk.

It astounds me the number of people who are here with no idea for a startup. Are you guys hackers, hustlers, "idea people", or am I missing a contingency? Mind blowing.

There's a few sites out there where people share their ideas to be judged. There's also the "weekend project" sites if you're looking for someone actively working on their site. There's also exactly what you did here, talking to fellow HNer

I'd still like to see open standards for IM and video/audio chat. And I think Google was ahead of itself with Wave. I'd use it as a back-end;a way to archive everything I say online in any format. Include pictures/files sent, maybe include

I'd combine this, the grandparent's post, and the example given in the original post (along with it's inverse, making physical mail available digitally,) into the ultimate personal correspondence service.
