I'd be interested in hearing why anyone would choose Tcl. I have to use it during the day, but use Ruby on my side-project. Tcl and it's lists (and lists-of-lists) is wicked painful - especially compared to my Ruby experience at this point.

When I'm working in a coffee shop or library or whatever, I do the same thing, but in an empty email. Just writing out what I'm trying to do in a hypothetical email to someone who has no knowledge of the problem usually unties the knots in

A major high five for Fireworks. It's like the "object"-ness of InDesign and the "graphic manipulation"-ness of Photoshop had a beautiful baby. Fireworks' master page is a great way to keep the skeleton of your site consistent across mocks.

When I'm doing print design, I love me some InDesign. But I don't understand your comment. How do you (you-you, not the proverbial "you") turn an INDD into good assets for the web?

My fun little side project. I needed a place to sell my Bruins season tickets without StubHub gorging me on commission, or gorging my buyers on "convenience fees". So, I learned Rails and scratched my own itch. Would love to hear what you t

I start typing in what I used to build it, then you didn't have "Stripe" yet. OK, no problem. So I click "add a new one" and it takes me to a new page, deleting the stuff I've already entered. Come one, man! New window at the very least.

Despite popular belief on the Internet, lots of people are born every second. Lots of people have just discovered how to program and/or taken a serious interest in entrepreneurship in the last week. Lots of people have just discovered Hacke

Old marketing pro once told me: "it's really easy to lower your prices, but fucking impossible to raise them". I agree with tjic's sentiment, especially the "free trial" bit. EXCEPT, that maybe instead of charging $10, make it APPEAR as if

I do the same thing with tickets. And since I can make Internet, I made a site to handle accepting the payment and getting them their PDF ticket: http://www.boxrowseat.com Made selling on CL about 1000x easier :)

Funny, was just talking about this at lunch earlier. I've been trying to wrap my head around how to continue building my 1-person project (boxrowseat.com) in an agile-ish format. Not that I'm getting confused with the work to be done, but s

Awesome. Can't upvote this more. Used Bootstrap while building my new (launched today!) project. It sped up overall development more than I could have imagined. Really excited for the responsive upgrades.

Thanks! I like the Cherry site. The plan is to make a landing page with this information (targeted to one network, like craigslist), with that design :) The fee is based on the ticket-selling price. After sleeping and reading your comment,

I've been a season ticket holder for the Boston Bruins a few years. It's hard to attend all 40-something home games (plus playoffs), so I frequently sell off my tickets on craigslist or to friends. This requires a ridiculous amount of work

It seems to me like that question may be purely "polite". It's OK to be and act confident. It's also OK to be nice and respectful at the same time.

Ticketmaster works for the venue, not the event. If a band wants to play in Boston's TD Garden, they must sell their tickets through TicketMaster. For the most part, ticket revenue goes to the event. Fees go to the venue. It's in the best i

We experienced similar issues while making the iPhone app for http://www.playlookit.com . My partner wrote the same kind of blog post: http://tannerburson.com/2011/04/03/Thoughts-on-Appcelerator-... Buggy, not very well documented, and a

Is the job salary negotiated before the program? I feel like it must be hard to accurately judge someone's programming value before they learn how to program. What happens if, at the end of the 5-month program, they offer you a desperately

That's one of the biggest issues with "experts": those that appear "successful" are just the ones that can get the most media. I'm not suggesting you ignore the media, but put it into perspective: The guys actually creating things don't hav

I think you missed the part where your bank and credit card companies are selling your personal information. Ansira knows your income level (and, at least for me, it's accurate).
