I think that doesn't actually remove you from the GitHub contributors list. I had used the wrong identity for a commit and tried all manners of git manipulation and force push, but GitHub kept me on the list. In the end I just nuked th

Coincidentally Japan just indefinitely suspended sales of their famous SVCs due to the semiconductor shortage, and BART had issued a similar warning about shortages last year.

Unit conversions are inconvenient for sure, but I think the worst part is actually fractional length measurements. It may make sense for woodworking and handicraft, which I assume is the origin, but for any other use? Try reading 2 3/1

Slightly besides your point, but there's a disagreement on Chinese SI prefixes for mega and tera. Most users might use Traditional Chinese in a Taiwan context in which 百萬 is correct, but it's possible for a Macau to use TCN and ex

As you might read from that page, there are only 3 (4 if you add Hywind Tempen) of those in operation from this last decade, plus some demo projects like China's Haiyou Guanlan. The US just auctioned off 5 leases in 2 Californian Wind

I know you didn't name a city, but since everyone says this about Los Angeles due to Roger Rabbit , I'll zoom in on LA. The LA street cars, Pacific Electric and LA Railways, were operated by Henry Huntington to sell real estate a

Checks never took off in Japan because their 1947 Labor Standards Act (Art. 24) actually made it illegal to pay wages by check [1]. So it's not that checks were made obsolete, it's that they were smothered in their crib. Until the

Hideaki Anno of Evangelion fame has been talking about doing something with Nausicaa for a while. He worked on the original movie (which is only 1/4th of the source manga) with Miyazaki and became close friends with him, and Miyazaki s

It's curious that there seemed to be a 6% classification shift between Windows and Unknown in April, and that was reverted for the June data. I wonder what UA string caused that, and it honestly doesn't inspire confidence in their

Unrelated but I love that "The True Size of Africa" diagram lists area in "m km^2", also known as "Mm^2". It's interesting that there are some SI prefix and unit combinations that are just not used.
