SSD drives are only as fast as the BUS. SATA BUS tops out at around 100 MB/s. While the RAM BUS tops out at 15,000 MB/s. 150x faster data access is very significant.

I tend to agree that Google doesn't file enough patents. For such an innovative company, with hundreds of different products in several industries, and many of the best and brightest employees anywhere, their patent portfolio is miserable.
