I prefer the WSJ version. I wonder what the suspects story will be? "I just wanted to look around!", "I wanted to setup my own high-frequency trading system, figured I'd reduce the latency some..."

Co-founded a tech startup as CTO with no developers on staff - yet. I ended up having to code the tools I wanted/needed and learned things I would have never learned if I'd just, "learned to program" in my free time. Have a goal. EDIT: I ha

I'm always a little frustrated when people recommend nginx over Apache. No argument; they're both great, but why would you suggest that someone adopt a new technology and deal with those hurdles, instead of making suggestions to their curre

Your mention of Gnome's built in key-ring is rather interesting. I just setup keys on my desktop for my work servers and was met with a foreign prompt for this key. I was startled and unclear about what to do, until I did some digging aroun

A lot of guides online make the 'mistake'(a minor one) of still using DSA instead of RSA. The patent has expired. I assume a lot of those guides are out of date. So, thanks for using RSA in the article! EDIT: I just did some digging. Appare

0Boxer actually looks entertaining. Are there any security considerations to worry about?

That is great to hear! I'm going to put it through its paces! I'd love to share feedback with you once I do.

If Blekko sticks to their word, I'd be inclined to give them a real chance. Sick of my search results being padded with spammy results. EDIT: Having looked at them, I'm a little unclear about what they're trying to do. Are they actually let

I was wondering why they never got back to me! 6,000 new hires this year though? That's downright massive! I wonder what type of work-load their HR department is under.

As a 'victim' of a few FOIA requests, I can vouch for how much work goes into them. A favicon? Who cares when you've just involved 2 managers, a director and 4 mid-level federal officials? Some FOIA's were beyond reasonable and duly denied,

I wouldn't get too far ahead of myself. I'm a former employee of the CRTC. We had one guy who was ~60 years old making decisions on what the definition of Broadband was, having no prior experience using said service. He was happy with his d

I like this idea. I have a 3 monitor setup(across 2 computers) using Synergy. This affords me the luxury(distraction) of always having my IM clients/browsers open. I've taken to using a focus/fader application so that when I'm not on the sc

Interesting article. Makes me wonder what people's overall experiences have been with VCs. We're on the verge of taking that step and I've only heard horror stories so far. Any positive stories out there?

That was pathetic. He seemed incapable of even remembering the syntax for 'cd'...kids! I found it curious that he was copy/pasting those wget links so quickly though. THAT part nearly seemed automated. Strange behaviour.

Forget Paypal! I'd be MORE inclined to support an organization/product if I saw that they'd opted out of using their service. At least until they change their policies. They seem so arbitrary sometimes.
