At a macro level, there are plenty of syscalls not wrapped by glibc that are used regularly in userspace. Then there's the micro level assumptions of behaviour. Look at the list of "doesn't work on WSL" software and al

WSL is an implementation of the Linux kernel ABI on top of the NT kernel. Typical Linux user space does depend on the kernel ABI – most significantly via glibc, systemd and friends, but also to various degrees up through the stack.

Minor historical nitpick: The CDDL was based on the MPL. There used to be a lot of licenses that were pretty much the MPL with the names changed.

Ubuntu was intentionally based on GNOME – before Ubuntu and Canonical even had names – because of the GNOME community's attitude towards usability and integration. (I was there.)

Practically every modern phone platform happens to include a microkernel. Pretty widespread.

But they didn't spend the time to keep GNOME up to date or make sure it was well integrated. Now that it's the default again, it gets more attention.

The controversy that surrounds universal healthcare systems goes something like this: "I am disappointed by my treatment in the system!" "Do you want to privatise it?" "Absolutely not."

Between Windows, macOS, and the major Linux desktop environments, practically no one is using a non-composited desktop these days. Compositors tend to aim for 60fps, because that's what most displays can handle. That means you _start_

Not as a wrapper, but an official Lambda runtime model. This Go release points to a much more interesting way of doing so (RPC) than what I had previously imagined (stdin/out/err).

And yet, the golang runtime for Lambda is a long* running process that communicates over TCP. :-) It would be entirely possible to create a language agnostic Lambda runtime model, be it stdin/out/err, or TCP. * relatively so
