I'm kind of surprised Celiac was not tested before. I know a quite a few people with it, so I thought it was a fairly common thing to test for and identify.

Understood. We do work with folks on custom per-use plans, but we just need to figure out what your requirements are so that we can see if there's some way for us to help.

No, it's not. If you're steadily earning a 10% return on your investment, year over year, you are doing amazingly well and should stop doing whatever day job you have now.

I kind of think you're countering yourself here. Just like only showing relevant news is an interesting challenge, so is only showing relevant ads. Advertisers don't want to show you ads you're not interested in; they want to show you ads

I suppose it depends on your personality, perspective and how you grow your company's culture. I just finished reading Tony Hsieh's upcoming book, Delivering Happiness. He describes how LinkExchange, his first big company, became boring to

A local intern would be full time. Remote work would depend on the ability of the programmer. We have a few dozen 80apps that need to be produced for various crawl packages right now (more coming). I expect each one would take 1-3 days of

Java is the only language we can use on the JVMs that run on the nodes in our grid computing system. Other languages (Jython, JRuby) require techniques that break the security sandbox used by the JVMs.

Anyone we hire will be compensated properly. The descriptions on the pages are fairly specific about the difference in responsibility for local vs remote. The remote work is admittedly more straightforward, cut-and-dry programming. It's su

Soccer should be much harder to quantify with stats because the game is basically a set of two continuous events. As a contrast, baseball is easier to quantify with stats because it's a series of discrete events. In most sports statistical

You can still experiment with pretty much everything except the API using the basic (free) plan, as long as you crawl fewer than 100,000 pages per job.

We increased prices at 80legs from on-demand ($2.00 per million pages) to subscription + on-demand (starting at $99 per month + $2.00 per million pages). It was a success for us. Here's why: 1. It was early on - just a few months after our

I wonder if this would make bi-pedal movement obsolete, or at least less important to innovate. There would still be need to move up and down steps, but this form factor seems much more compact than current bi-pedal robots.

I can't see how Match.com could possibly defend their case in court if they tried to sue. They'd essentially be asking a competing firm to reveal their trade secrets.
