I'm a fan of Monte Carlo ( http://www.bok.net/MonteCarlo/ ). ProFont is also really nice, but doesn't have a proper bold version.

Kids are often smarter than you give them credit for, especially if they are engaged in the subject matter. Kids which are obsessing over something have remarkable retentive abilities.

In a fit of distractedness, I actually read this comment before I reached the end of the article. I stopped reading. I'm familiar with the story of _why, so I don't really feel the need to hear it again. But most of all, I don't want to kno

They have that: Google Desktop. If I recall correctly, it even lets you do it from your other machines. Admittedly, it's been a while since I've used it, so I might be wrong there. (Methinks that it would be vastly improved if they got simp

I find this very sad. I do nearly all of my reading with dead tree books (I simply don't find e-readers nearly as satisfying), and if I want a book the first place I check is the used bookstore up the road. I tend to accumulate books faster

It means that you have to make sure to deallocate any memory you allocate when you are done with it. Basically, the same as C and C++, as opposed to garbage-collected languages like Python or Java, which will automatically detect when you a

Nitpick - the Webkit layout engine wasn't born at Apple. It's derived from KHTML, which is part of the Konqueror and KDE projects.

As far as I can tell, they're not telling anyone to deface sites - they are saying that you should black out your sites, and encourage others to do the same. Wikipedia was/is considering doing something similar.

Why wouldn't it? When it's going around the earth, it's going to be going in the opposite direction from the earth's orbit part of the time. The question is which motion is bigger.

For the record, as a Fedora 16 KDE user, I don't have any problems running the desktop effects. Also, my screensaver functions just fine thank you. Printing is a bit iffy though.

The text column is narrow because it's easier for humans to read text in narrow columns. Also, negative space isn't necessarily bad -- it can be used to draw attention to important items. Now that I think about it, if the black bar was ligh
