Totally agree. You learn so much theory in computer science courses, but that is less important during practical career work. It's much more about learning codebases, libraries, and good debugging skills.

The way that I learned C++ was starting from how the language was developed. With functions, arrays, basic variables. Then moving onto classes and polymorphism. Then with C++11 and C++14 newer features.

Just upgraded from 18.04, and it's pretty nice. The new Yaru theme is the same as the old Communitheme if you were using the snap. But it's nice to have it default now. Otherwise, Gnome seems to perform better especially in a V

But what happens if it's a fix that was made to master. Then later, the boss decides that they need that change as a bugfix to the current release? How do you accomplish that without cherry-picking? Do you rebase the feature branch

How else do you get bugfixes onto a release branch when the main develop branch has already moved on? Should you rebase your feature branch on the release branch instead, then merge it?

I really miss AIM. It's great having real-time conversations with people you know are online. Facebook Messenger is similar, but it doesn't fill quite the same need.

Ruby/Sinatra is really nice. I wrote a little webapp 10 years ago using it. Faced with the alternative of doing everything in C++, it really made things easier.

Google is a black hole that sucks in the best talent. I'm sure once you're there it's a singularity of extremely talented engineers. So if anyone were to have good security practices, it would be Google.

To be honest, I haven't seriously used Pandora since around 2006 or 2007. It was wonderful for music discovery before the rise of smartphones and streaming services. I've had the Pandora app on my phone for years, but I rarely e

I'm 100% more willing to do a take-home coding exercise than sit for grueling whiteboard problems. Preparing for whiteboard problems takes prep time at home too, in fact a lot more so. So homework assignments actually save time.
