Twitter did no such thing, Twitter now personally silences loud dissenters and engages openly in anticompetitive behavior meanwhile doing less moderation than they ever have. Plugging your ears and ignoring it is not "fixing" the

No, audio compression doesn't filter out high frequencies, that's just what computer audio as a whole does. And I don't think there's enough of those high frequency components in what humans typically record for a cat or

The article mentions the death of HDMI altmode. Is it actually widely supported?

It's like you said, "...our much older and simpler systems... keep us grounded in reality." Memory is far from infallible but human brains do contain knowledge and are capable of introspection. There can be false confidence,

Not really, because LLMs aren't human brains. Neural nets are nothing like neurons. LLMs are text predictors. They predict the next most likely token. Any true fact that happens to fall out of them is sheer coincidence.

Humans hallucinate far less readily than any LLM. And "years and years" of improvement have made no change whatsoever to their hallucinatory habits. Inductively, I see no reason to believe why years and years of further improvemen

Where's the evidence that upstream cares? Many package maintainers are also upstream project maintainers or contributors at a minimum. I may be "just" a user but as a user of the unstable version of my particular OS I've

No, just actually represent the situation accurately in what's supposed to be a good-faith discussion. Maybe provide any evidence of the claim you're making. It'd be appreciated.

Combined with the other changes that were also hastily and sloppily implemented and are now getting slowly rolled back, I think that strengthens the theory that Twitter was facing extreme capacity crunch and threw a whole bunch of slapstick

That's not what's happening in this report. This is answering the question of whether an all-encompassing metapackage should prefer to match upstream or integrate more with Debian's philosophy. "Upstream only tests with

I've used GNOME for a long time and never seen any sentiment like that. You'll also note that the GNOME project is split across many, many dozens of repos and isn't one enormous monorepo. I've also never seen a distro th

The problem is caring about productivity too much. There's more to life than your work output. A minmaxed, micro-optimized life is a horribly miserable one.

Every browser I've come across suspends `requestAnimationFrame` callbacks when the page is not the focused tab. You won't be wasting resources, the animations will all suspend when you're not looking at them.

Didn't say anything about copyright, in the US at least that's already been ruled on saying that the raw output of one of these models is not copyrightable. Being able to trace something back to a service can be useful anyway. Ima
