This has basically been a power play from the crown prince from the very beginning. You get to look like you're rooting out corruption all while eliminating competitors/cementing allegiances and shaking people down for money which

Man, it sounds like you've had bad experiences with UX people. I guess that's what happens when UX is the new craze, and everybody and their mom wants to jump into it.

Sorry that you worked with a bad UX designer. Do you know if they did any sort of user research at all, or did they jump straight to making it look pretty?

I'm real curious as to how taxing miles travelled would work, especially if you travel between states. Would you have to keep track of how many miles you drove in State A and State B, and how would you pay State B if you lived in State

Here you go[0]. Some highlights: 1. $2.988 billion in state/city subsidies (so ~$48,000 per job) 2. The state estimated that Amazon will generate $27.5 billion in state and city revenue over 25 years, a 9:1 ratio of revenue to subsidie

Interesting. I guess they estimated that the battle to retain the tax breaks wasn't worth the fight. I wonder if they'll continue to expand in Seattle, or wait a few years before putting HQ2 elsewhere.

I agree that private development like Japan is the way to go, but outside of the Brightline, it seems like nobody in the US is doing this. The only real estate that the HSR line in Texas seems to buy is land for the tracks, but not any real

I find it quite telling that no major takeaway mentioned talking to users or testing the design. This reeks of genius design, which really isn't genius at all.

I believe the argument is that by taxing companies, you can broaden the tax base beyond individuals which theoretically will let you lower the tax rates on individuals while maintaining or increasing the amount of taxes that you take in.
