Ah OK, I often thought the opposite, that people mainly drink for the sugar in beer etc, as well as the alcohol. But I always felt like the kick of the alcohol was just something people came to like as it preceeds the effect. Otherwise more

You mean the same inebriation effects but without the same health risks? I believe there are drugs that act on similar receptors, and are not as toxic or at least don't need to be taken in such high doses for the same effect. My unders

Been using mxroute for years, have multiple domains (they let you use unlimited domains IIRC), never had any issues. Great info on setting up stuff like SPF, DKIM. Easy to set quotas on accounts, set up catch-alls etc. Never had an issue wi

WhatsApp has an option to disable link previews. Surprised signal doesn't have this option. I only message people I know on Signal anyway. Edit: it seems signal does have the option

Was just skimming the comments for a mention of Beej's guide, was about to post almost the same comment. What an amazing resource. I feel like the last time I looked at it, it has been updated too so was pretty current. Also agree the

Yeah I don't judge other parents, this stuff is hard. We do use downloaded stuff on netflix on flights or rarely long drives if we need to keep them awake. But we use colouring, activity books etc on planes before resorting to Netflix.

It's been so long since I've read this that I can't even remember the plot. But I remember loving it as a teenager. I must go and reread it soon. That, and For whom the bell tolls, which I can remember slightly clearer.

Really interesting. I never knew how those old magic eye images work. It makes me wonder if the wall-eyed version could be useful for eye health. I've often heard when doing computer work, you should focus on something 20 meters away f

The first computer I remember having as a kid was an old DOS machine that was gifted to us. I remember it had a command prompt and you had to type pop or something to launch prince of Persia. It was mind blowing, but led to trying to figure

I used to go to a late night coffee shop in Dublin sometimes when I lived there and read a book. Was a really nice space with comfortable couches and good ambient music. Couldn't remember the name but managed to find a reference to it,

Yeah I wanted to like the nokia, but it was such a cheap plastic-y build. Nokia refusing to repair it did leave a bad taste also. Funny enough the software on the nokia and the M8 was very similar. I also had the CAT S22 flip, but I couldn&

It's probably worth double checking the bands they support. I had the M6 before and I had issues where it would have coverage but calls would go straight to voicemail. Maybe it was just an issue with that phone, I returned it. I never

Yeah I bought a Nokia 2660. After probably a month or so the hinge brackets broke from normal use. Nokia refused to refund / repair it saying that only a drop could have caused it. I replaced it with an AGM M8 which is a great dumbphon

I think it's a pretty clever advert to be fair. And I really like some of the stuff they are doing. Their TOTP app is great.

Graphene OS do not recommend or support rooting as far as I know. Though I'm pretty sure you can just flash magisk / magisk modules as you would with any other ROM.

I never really "got" Twitter. I don't know why, but I always felt like the hype went over me head, and it was a bit boring. Though I'm tempted to check out Bluesky, the AT protocol seems really interesting.
