There's no magic bullet for confidence. You can try faking it till you make it. Ultimately good work will lead to confidence. If a bunch of boisterous sales guys were constantly "alphaing" me with erroneous solutions and I kn

Not everyone can work on passion projects, someone has to be the employee, the economy just doesn't work without it. Unless maybe if you run a company like Valve where everyone is technically an "owner". Bottom line large v

I know an engineer in Lima who got work in California. I know others in Peru that work for companies in California remotely. None of them went to school in the States. It is possible.

Why do you feel the need to "hate" a programming language? Hate racism or hunger or war; but a programming language? I find such vitriol unnecessarily divisive and I don't think it in anyway benefits our industry.

I like how you squeezed in that subtle dig at PHP. It's like you like the idea of being language agnostic just as long as it doesn't involve languages you don't like.

PHP has HHVM, Symfony, and Composer; it does not suffer from any of these problems. Ruby is dying, PHP is the future.

Maybe HHVM will be like MariaDB and MySQL, HHVM will become the new fork and the current stewardship will be left behind with their troll mailing list. Either way I think HHVM is going to be a huge step forward for the PHP ecosystem, it
