I agree with your thoughts on siloing being a poor decision by Apple, but I see nothing here that couldn’t already be done all on device using existing APIs. Apple already added drag & drop between apps, you can drag text/images fr

I'm hoping this is what happens in the next redesign which should be coming soon. The iPad Pro already went for a flat edge design, so hopefully that gets carried over to the MBP.

More than that, I hate that they got rid of the charge indicator on the cable, which they easily could have kept even with USB-C charging. The old-old MacBooks with the 5 dot battery indicator were awesome, I hate having to pick up my lapto

There is interest, so you'd still be locked in the cycle. Just a little better off because they don't charge you $30-50 for paying late. But it appears they are much more forward on telling you how much interest you will be paying

I think the confusion on charging comes in with the case - you "charge" the airpods by keeping them together in the case. You charge the case by plugging it in. The case has about 24 hours of battery, so I charge the case about on

But this is missing the other problem AirPods solve, a problem created by Apple and other tech giants - the now missing standard 3.5mm jack. I have a laptop, desktop, iPad and iPhone - for wired I would need USB-C->3.5mm, Lightning->3

I've used mine everyday since launch, so a little over two years. They now only hold a charge for about 45 minutes, so I end up doing one ear at a time for longer voip meetings. The case held up fine, I charge that like once every two

I agree. For me it isn’t even that - if an app can save me 5 minutes of time per week it is easily worth $5. Or if it is an app I use every day, if the experience is that much better it is worth the subscription to me.

They are listing in-app purchases directly through the app store. My guess is they did get some kind of deal though (Like the supposed 15% deal that Netflix had before they pulled their IAPs.)

As a dev who works on a fairly large app with an in-app subscription, we are the ones that get a ton of support requests, even having the unsubscribe link in our own settings. The problem is a huge percentage of users assume deleting the ap

This is what I am wondering. The process at my company is a personal interview, coding challenge, then technical interview. So essentially about 4 hours of time. What makes this different from a company that wants 4 interviews from differen

Same here. Especially with the new hardware from this year. Apple puts a ton of engineering into these new iOS devices, a little sad that the Mac lines don't really get the same treatment. I feel we are insanely close to this reality t

I don't think VR is ever going to reach that point, just because our eyes are too important. Very few people would be comfortable putting a VR headset on while commuting on a subway or bus - because you lose all awareness of your surro

I think the biggest problem comes from supporting external displays. For me to fully swap to iOS as a development platform (ignoring missing software currently) I would need to be able to plug into a larger display at some point, and have a

This plus the rumor of USB-C replacing lightning on the iPad - there is supposedly much more external display support in the next iOS beta. External screens as an extension don't really work without some kind of cursor - iOS already su

That is just three wireless chargers stacked next to each other. Apple's design was to have no required orientation or position, just drop it wherever on the mat, along with whatever other devices.

Do most places in NZ have indoor smoking bans? Many cities in the US have made it so smokers have to be outside, and a certain number of feet away from business entrances.

I think the gain is in footprint size and noise levels. I have a Sonnet eGPU box, and it is pretty massive, nearly the size of a microATX case. It also has a fan on the box and the fan of the GPU cooler itself. This design looks a lot small

From 2015 to 2016 models the battery capacity dropped from 74 watt hours to 49 watt hours in the new 13" design. The gap was made up for by efficiency gains of the CPU and possibly the display. But the display can also be cranked way b

I have a 5k iMac. No real complaints with it, although the design is pretty dated with its massive bezels and huge chin. Compute-wise it serves its purpose for me, good performance for an all-in-one.
