Probably not, but also modern day plumbers can’t really WFH either. I didn’t notice any implication that _every_ role can be done from home successfully, but many software engineering roles definitely can.

I made https://chitchatter.im/ because I don’t trust third parties not to spy on me. I can trust Chitchatter because I know how it works and I built it myself. :)

Good. A publicly-funded entity like NPR should be hosting its own Mastodon server anyways.

How so? The App Store’s value proposition is discoverability. A web API can’t do much to compete with that.

This is great! It works as advertised and I can see myself using this a lot. I've made some simple BASH functions to easily open and close ports to the public internet with Funnel: https://github.com/jeremyckahn/do

AIs don’t need to “want” to have unintended results, they just need a directive. Like in 2001 where HAL realized that it could achieve the mission better if the humans were all dead.

I’m very interested to see how this will affect https://chitchatter.im/ , a serverless, self-hostable chat app I built. Would it be exempt from this EU proposal?

Any chance you’ll offer a hiDPI (>3.5K) screen on the 13 inch models? That’s the last thing I need in order to buy one of these!

It’s not the most realistic game, but I think my personal project Farmhand would fit here as well: https://www.farmhand.life/ It’s a GPL-licensed farming game where the value of crops and seeds fluctuate every in-game day.

As soon as Framework offers a 3.5K+ touchscreen and DDR5 RAM, I'm in. Without those I'll probably go with another Dell XPS 13 for my next machine.

I’m a perfectly happy Ubuntu user. I stick to the happy path and things generally go smoothly for me. I don’t expect to need to change distros for the foreseeable future.
