I don't actually know the history of JavaScript style, but I feel like this assertion is likely trivializing something more complex: >The reason you were once told trailing commas are bad is because they are invalid in EcmaScript 3.

The caption is kind of amusing with it's literal-ness and complete irrelevance to the story: > People are silhouetted as they pose with laptops in front of a screen projected with binary code and a Central Inteligence Agency (CIA) e

I don't think that's what this is about. It's about linking to content that violates copyright laws, e.g. running a torrent tracker. > The case arose in the Netherlands where the GeenStijl website had provided a link to an

It looks like all the analysis is just on base salary. It would be much more interesting if it included bonus and stock.

This is definitely consistent with my experience. Every candidate I've interviewed for software engineering internships this year says that their main technical interest is machine learning.

That actually seems kind of dangerous. It could cause people to pull out their phones to check whether the ad actually turned airplane mode on.

Here's a totally wild guess. Wikipedia says LinkedIn has 8735 employees. Let's guess that before the crash, employees had an average of $50,000 of stock each. The price is down about 50% the past year. 8735 * 50,000 * 0.5 = $218 m

I definitely agree with your point, so I apologize for nit picking. IMO, "does it work?" is a QA question. The design question would be "does it do anything useful?"

IBM actually seems to be taking design very seriously. They're hiring 1000 designers, and the design program has significant support from the CEO. More background here: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/15/b
