I suspect that by minimising someone else’s work it allows the commenters to feel better about themselves. As a general rule/perspective.

I think it’s not explicitly stated but consider the companies that have not IPOd and getting funding privately - I think that was his point.

Yup. Strikes me as obvious that folks figured out how to get in there earlier rather than leave it to the public markets. Just sort of speaks to a combination of market efficiency plus increased regulation in my mind.

This is an interesting point. Maybe the problem is most people don’t drive boats or planes so are not familiar with the experience in those contexts. I think you’re right from the boat standpoint a “auto pilot” means you set a heading and t

Yeah. I like to think about why something is the way it is. If they are trying to accomplish something similar to me, then copy away. But if their circumstances and objectives are different…

I think it depends on the relationship with the junior. If you do have a level of trust, this wouldn't be a question. If you don't have a level of trust, then is there a way to build it quickly, so you can help them get to the rig

Yeah this was more my take - Industrial Revolution was a step change, and you saw that flow through to future generations / inheritance.

The roof stuff drives up prices massively. The MGA stuff is just the tool/response for the insurer to manage the downside for things like the roof nonsense - if they can pocket the fee when they write the deal then if there’s a subsequ

Particularly post GFC when net interest margins went through the floor, banks had to keep up revenue amid heightened capital requirements - they increased fees and cut back on employees. If you’re thinking the fees don’t matter relative to

Why is it so hard for people to just acknowledge the world is changing, and we had something happen, and we can improve some things? Frequency and severity of fires is up, and people have been building closer to the areas where they happen.
