My objection to that is almost all content (like a browser document) is going to vertically scroll almost always anyway, so what's another 50-ish points lost. Compared to placing the Dock on the left or right, where that eats up window tili

Ah, that hadn't crossed my mind. But I'm guessing that new modern compiler-environment of theirs sure could be useful surmounting such a hurdle.

I wonder if this will ever be used as an alternative to Objective-C for iOS.

Design has never been about using Photoshop. This isn't a "2010 thing". Design is no more about Photoshop than it is pen, paper, or pixel. If you believe any different, you're deluding yourself. I know how to use Photoshop and Illustrator,

WebKit most probably did not have any influence here, but was mentioned because WebKit in the past, like "Cocoa/Objective-C" in this instance, is being used elsewhere. Hence, Apple's technologies are influencing adoption in the industry (ye

Agreed, for the most part. Having closures in the language can really take away the repetitiveness of writing delegate protocols and conforming to them. I wonder if they will full absolve the need for delegates?

I wonder, then, if they'll ever enter into web search. It would make sense, given the seeming herd migration of engineers from Google (though I don't know how many were from Search).

Thanks for the advice. I have indeed been making liberal use of the iPad's dictionary while going through IJ. I'm even highlighting the words after I define them as I love expanding my vocabulary and this novel is such a trove of new words!

Most of the games on Steam are developed and maintained by relatively large teams. Compare to most iOS developers and my guess is the teams are much, much smaller. So for the Mac, I'm guessing it would be non-trivial to be supporting two SK

That's a great point. Are there any 64 bit ARM chips on the horizon? I don't know much about chips, so maybe it's not even possible given the architecture.

Curious, what do you like so much about Adium? I find it quite the abomination in terms of user experience (ex the Preferences). iChat is a breath of fresh air by comparison.

I agree, FaceMail or something would be incredibly nice, especially as I'm not always available to answer a video call, but would still like to see what's up eventually. I guess it would be used like like YouTube, only privately. That is, o

What I've been wondering is why Apple doesn't pony up and do just that. They could say "Hey artists not [yet] on a label, join the iTunes Label. We're a great distribution channel, and we'll give you a 70/30 split." OK so it's a bit far-fet
