I think kind of the opposite, more in the Pale Blue Dot mindset, that in the immense vastness of the universe, Earth is all we've got, and should be treated with the utmost significance.

It is. It is and it always has been. Because since we've all had phones, we've been under a social contract with them. When the phone rings, you have about 30 seconds to choose between being ripped out of your current focus (work, reading,

Probably. But I was leaning more towards, listing specific accomplishments instead of generic business-y words. (Disclaimer: typing this on an iPad)

Kudos to those who participated in the studies (particularly the Japanese study). They sounded extraodinarily uncomfortable. As odd as it sounds, I'm thankful for the lengths some will go for science (I'm going to pretend this was the motiv

Or combine it with a Simple Note account and have sync to all your nv installations as well as Simple Note on iOS and other platforms as well. It works rather flawlessly.

Don't get me wrong, I think people will continue to buy "desktop" class computers for a long time to come, and in great numbers, so I believe Windows on the desktop has a long and prosperous future ahead of it. But so far as where the growt

The thing about Windows is they don't really have to do very much and they'll still sell a boat load of copies. Windows 7 has sold tens of millions of copies. I would consider that a resounding success in such a short period of time. But th

I recall reading of a famous amnesiac who after much instruction, developed muscle memory for drawing mirror images (or something, ironically I forget…). Point being, muscle memory is quite a powerful construct. I wonder how great of a typi

My guess is they're not including Skype for many of the same reasons they don't include Flash. They don't want to be in a position where they are depending on one single company to fix things so they can release new products.

While this is true of mobile (ie iPhone apps) I get the feeling the article is more aimed at desktop apps, where I think the advice makes more sense (as there is no App Store).

I don't think they've ever claimed to be the inventors of copy and paste on a mobile device. In fact, I remember them admitting being late to the party with that particular feature.

While I believe Mac OS X has had some resolution independence since at least 10.5, I believe as of today it's still "not ready", and to say it's been there since the beginning is a bit of a misdirection. It's a work in progress. Having said

I figure by the time they can pack so many pixels into a single 30 inch display, a single graphics card will be able to drive it. Hopefully :)

As a 30 inch Cinema Display owner, I did the math on it the other day, I think it's about 8000x5200 pixels at 326 ppi. I would pay whatever the cost for that.

I think it's really hard to call one store "better" than the other. I'm an App Store developer, but I can see advantages to both: App Store: Far more apps (and thus a stronger platform, attracts more users, attracts more developers). The re
