I second Sinatra+Datamapper. I'm not much of a web developer, but I really love the simplicity of Sinatra. Using it is like C, in the sense that it provides very little for you (ie. it stays out of your way). Unlike Rails, there really aren

I've struggled greatly with this as an indie trying to sell my own software. I've yet to have any success (ie make non-trivial money) on my own. I've never been able to get attention from any kind of blogs (although when I attempted, the li

Can you describe it? I thought the code was all C? Or were the tools written in Objective-C? Either way, that's very interesting (big Objective-C fan, here).

If you've done any looking around already, you've probably seen this advice: "Just start building something", and it's really the best advice. Of course, check out http://developer.apple.com/ios . Their documentation is incredible. They ha

* Yes, I think something a little instructional would be good. Although as your app is very simple, it also makes it easy to understand already, so that's a great point. * I think whether a task is "Deleted" or moved to a "Completed" list o

I don't use any external scripts, I just set mine to block problematic domains for me (places where I find I sink a lot of time, HN, Reddit, Twitter are the primary ones), and usually I make it close my IM client (or sometimes set my status

Looks pretty, and simple. I liked the quick sign-on. A few niggles: * After I've signed on, the first thing I see is it asking me to "Share with friends", before I've (theoretically) even figured out what the hell the app does. It feels a l

I've been a big fan of Concentrap http://getconcentrating.com It lets you set periods of time where you'll be focusing on a certain task, and lets you perform actions when you start and end that period. For example, when you start a "Work

Could you expand on why Mark Zuckerberg is not in the same "class" as the others? I'm not sure what makes him so different in the example, other than Facebook is not yet so old as the other companies.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting (or just have my facts wrong) but I thought SVG is generally poorly supported among browsers, even today. I seem to think WebKit browsers have decent support for it (though I remember it being sluggish in desktop S

I think the benefit of using styled text over images is they scale up nicely, instead of becoming pixelated. On the desktop this maybe isn't so important, but it makes a nice difference if you're zooming in on a mobile browser (or using a h

I believe it's bad UI because Text Selection is marking a range of text for manipulation (like copy, move, style changes, etc.). Of course, you might also like to erase the text, in that case you can use the Delete/Backspace key. But to hav
